I teach Musikgarten in my busy studio in North Seattle and met Leslie at a training, years ago. Leslie has that ideal combination of humor, passion and love for children and their best interest, and experience as a wonderful teacher. You are lucky to be part of her classes and lessons. One of my favorite families EVER, in my eight years of teaching, moved about an hour from me and broke my heart a little. I told them I'd help them find a teacher, not knowing Leslie was close by. I was THRILLED to know they would be in top notch, loving, skill hands, as their child continued his comprehensive musical literacy!

Leslie is very helpful and flexible. She understands our hopes and our limitations as adult students. We appreciate your knowledge of a variety of music genres. We are grateful that she comes to our home.

I am an adult learner and have been taking lessons with Leslie for 2 months. She is simply a wonderful instructor: very talented, patient, and humorous. I am excited with my progress and would encourage anyone considering lessons to meet with Leslie!

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a BA degree in sacred music. I am also a certified Musikgarten instructor. I have taught classroom music and directed choirs as well.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started teaching piano lessons when I was in high school. My piano teacher gave me a couple of students who lived near my house and gave me the opportunity to "learn by doing". I have learned a LOT in the 35 years that followed!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When choosing music education for your child, consider the following: Is the curriculum truly educational, or is it just "edutainment"? Is the curriculum age/developmentally appropriate for your child's age? Does the teacher understand and enjoy children? Is he or she knowledgeable about what they are teaching?
