Rita is very professional and very thorough. She goes over the basics with you until she is absolutely certain you can do them perfectly. She teaches lot of very small, subtle things that other trainers might not teach you. Some reviewer's said that they thought it was too much and she moved to slowly. I completely disagree. She will tell you upfront that she is going to spend time on the basics. Unless you're already an excellent rider just wanting some brush up training on certain things, then the basics cover a lot more than you probably have learned before and may seem pedantic. It's not!!! If you've never ridden or are a relatively new rider and or, like me, haven't ridden for 20 years, she is the perfect instructor for you. I found her training method to be nothing short of amazing. I have had trainers before and none of them taught me some of the very basic things that she did. It made my riding 100% better. She can be "snappy" (abrupt, almost yelling) but has a kind heart. If she says something snappy to you, it is always because you are doing something wrong that will either hurt the horse and/or hurt your training. If you can't handle people yelling at you and/or getting angry with you, then she is not the trainer for you. If you already know the basics, she will review them with you make sure she is satisfied. If you want to skip the basics and/or move fast through the training so that you're finally jumping or whatever your goal is, then she is probably not the trainer for you. It will take you a few lessons, minimum, before she'll let you do anything more than ride around the ring. If you're interested in being an excellently trained rider, however, she is the person you want to train you. I trust her completely and I know that my horsemanship improved exponentially under her training.
Troy has been my trainer for the last 3 years. I went from slowly getting back into horses to owning my own horse and competing in a very short time. His program is great for first timers young or older, as well as those wanting to push themselves and follow their horse/equestrian dreams. I highly recommend Corbett Stables to anyone looking to learn to ride or learn more about horses and how amazing they are.
An exceptional place to ride from beginner to advanced rider. A magical setting for a horse enthusiast. Shelly is masterful in finding the correct horse for an individual's ability - creating a true partnership between horse and rider. Horse and rider safety is a very high priority for Shelly. Having over 50 year riding/showing this is truly a very special place!
Not only have I been a student of Kristi’s for the past year, but I have also witnessed her transform a novice riders into a confident jumping equestrians, train countless riders to win their divisions at horse shows, and even empower my mother to purchase her own horse, which she thought she would never do. After not performing to my potential while in college, my confidence plummeted. Building up someone’s confidence on a horse is not something just anyone can do, but Kristi has done just that. Taking regular lessons with Kristi, I feel comfortable on the horses she puts me on and know I can trust her to keep both me and the horse I am riding safe. However, her lessons always challenge me and push me in new ways so that I am always discovering how to improve my riding. No two lessons are the same, but they are ALWAYS fun! Another key differentiators about Kristi is that she has tremendous integrity with her work and will do what's best for both rider and horse. If something is not right, she will not push that horse beyond its limit to get a lesson out of it. Instead, she will problem solve on the spot to either use a different horse, for example, or reschedule a lesson so that the horse isn't overworked or increases injury/sickness. Kristi also cares. Your relationship with her is not transactional. Even after my mom moved to the other side of the country, Kristi has stayed in touch and is even flying down to teach a clinic! Kristi goes above and beyond and delivers exceptional training. I highly encourage you to reach out, share your goals, and work with her to make them a reality.
I've taken riding lessons from Carol on and off for the past five years as I've had time and money and will definitely take more lessons in the future. Her horses are excellent, safe but not at all bored or barn sour. Her instructional method meets you where you are in terms of skills and interest; she challenges you to learn more each lesson while coming back to familiar skills to increase your confidence. Her barn is about enjoying horses and learning to ride, and not about competitive drama. Lessons with Carol are one-on-one (no group lessons, which are mostly a waste of time) and she teaches you how to groom, tack up, and interact with the horses safely on the ground before you start to ride. You definitely get the entire hour, unlike some places that call a 45-minute lesson "an hour". If you want to move up in dressage -- if you are not a total beginner -- Carol will help you do that as well, taking youth and adult amateurs to schooling shows every summer. I highly recommend Carol and Dressage Dancers as a great place to learn to ride.
I've been riding here for close to 6 years steadily and there was about a year before that where I came and did trail rides and the odd lesson. For most of those years I've ridden with Markelle and she is incredible. She has all the patience and good will to work with new, inexperienced riders and take them to becoming capable riders with a good foundation in all parts of riding and understanding the horse. I started out a western rider who was truly terrible at english but she's made me into a confident eventer who is now riding and partly training horses for her and an owner at the barn. Saddle Rock is a great place for any rider of any skill level. Jordan, Markelle's older sister, is more experienced and competes regularly in Olympic level competitions so she knows how to train champions and she's really good at pushing the rider. She's not as good with new riders because she's very go go go and doesn't work with new riders anymore. They either go to Nicolette who is amazing for young riders or to Markelle and they stay with her because Markelle is the type of trainer you grow up with in riding. Markelle is more laid back but don't mistake that for lack of skill in teaching, she just knows when to push and when it's enough. I learn more from her every lesson and am totally grateful for my years at Saddle Rock Stables with Markelle and Jordan. The facility is also super nice and we have both an indoor arena where we do more of the dressage and a large outdoor arena with lots of varied types of jumps for practicing showjumping. For cross country we go to other facilities that have a cross country course as we do not have one. The barn is also located in a large horsey neighborhood so we can go on trailrides in the summer and they are the best. Saddle Rock is truly a special place and I would rather ride here than almost anywhere else.
My horses get the best care possible at Cadbury farm. This is the happiest my horses and I have been at a boarding stable in my 20+ years of owning and boarding horses in the PNW. I've boarded there for over a year now and the feed, turnout situation, and arena footing is consistently nothing short of perfect. Barn owner/trainer Nichole is a pleasure to work with and a first rate instructor and horse trainer. My young horse is coming along beautifully with her help and my older competition horse is thriving under her care and and instruction. I ride eventing and my horse and I went from a "getting our dressage test over with so we could jump" mentality, to actually enjoying our dressage journey together.
I have been riding at THE RIDING PLACE on and off for about 3 years, the place has a lot of area, good outside small trails to get a horse used to our NW weather, and rider used to small changes in the riding trails, with small streams and ponds, that have ducks and other birds , it has a nice round pen out side, This place has events for young and old that are interested in horses. The owners are on site almost everyday, They too have horses there, The box stalls are 12 x 12 and joined up with large runs for their outdoor time too They have a indoor arena that has a view room for comfort for those not riding or if you would like some snacks or lunch, a big tack room! 3 nice wash stall areas, matted and one can watch riders too! I have enjoyed joining up with other riders and doing team things for holidays and schooling events! Trainers come there and help us, and give seminars! It is some times a time for extra learning and lots of caring and sharing!
Lynda has been patient and kind and understanding of my limitations. She allows me sufficient time to master skills before pushing me to move on to learn new things. I am very happy that I chose Hollywood Hill Equestrian Center to learn how to ride. Thank you Lynda!
Super friendly, very clean set up & beautiful horses.

My 8 year old daughter has been taking lessons for the better part of one year now. She loves the instructor, the horses, and the facility. Instruction is age appropriate and well paced. The staff is friendly with flexible schedules. I highly recommend Sunset Lake for anyone looking to improve their horsemanship skills.
