- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always had a camera as a child and loved taking photos of everything. It wasn't long before I discovered how much I loved photographing people, especially unposed. My creativity came alive when I was allowed to pay attention to my families in an unobtrusive way. When they are engaged with each other, I simply click the shutter button and the results are magical. Their photos are exactly who they are in that moment in time. And this is exactly why I continue to do this type of work. Each family is unique and I never get bored or tired of photographing families. To me it's like opening a package every single time. What a special gift to have as a job.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with many clients - babies, toddlers, young children, high school seniors, young and old couples, weddings, anniversaries, pets - but my most favorite work is with families with young children. That is my focus now. My work is candid, un-staged, in the moment. My goal is to embrace each family as individuals and to allow for genuine interactions to unfold naturally. In this manner I am able to capture personalities and emotion, which is really what you are most interested in remembering as a family.
