Lisa Maki: Professional Writing & Consulting
About this pro
I have over 15 years of combined experience in Professional Writing, Copywriting, and Human Resources. These collective professional skills and experiences make me highly equipped to write Resumes, Business Plans, Sales Copy, Website Content, and all the other services I offer. And since I am a freelance writer, I donâÃÂÃÂt have a high overhead, which gives me the ability to offer lower prices than other businesses offering the same services. Besides, if you avail of the services of more established and bigger companies, chances are the person who will handle your writing requirement is an intern or a starting writer. With me you are getting top-notch, high-quality service that is at par with the bigwigs in the industry, while paying a quarter or half the price for what they will charge you. You see, some people are not comfortable admitting that they don't even know how to use the computer. I understand this and I make my clients feel that it's ok. I can honestly say that clients find me very accommodating and accepting. My services for them go beyond the projects I do for them. Clients can call me for consultation even after my work for them is done. My clients are very satisfied with my services ... It is SUPERIOR QUALITY at VERY REASONABLE PRICES. I value commitment. When I say I will finish your paper in 2 days, I will. I don't commit to anything I can't do. I can talk endless about why I believe I am better than my competitors, but really, what matters to me most is keeping my clients happy and satisfied. I love writing. It is my passion. I've always believed that you have to do what you love to do, otherwise, what's the point of even working? The part I love most about my job is drawing from my clients their own thoughts and feelings, organizing these into a cohesive message, and putting it in writing to create something that truly represents my client. Another thing I love about my job is getting to know my clients. My job allows me to learn so much not only about the "individualities" of people but also about different fields and professions. Most of the time my meetings turn into counseling sessions just because a client starts opening up to me. This, for me, is the most fulfilling part.

Q & A
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I do not give a direct quote until I see the extent of work I will do. However, I have a price range for every service on my website.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? The first step is for the customer to tell me what they need and what they have. If they need a Resume, my question is: Do you have an existing one or are we starting from scratch? Same thing for other services like Business Plan. The next step is for the customer to send whatever information they have. For those who do not have anything, I send a list of information I need from them. Some clients are fine communicating with me by phone and online; others prefer to meet me in person. Those who meet me in person are serious about availing of my service and are ready to pay me during the meeting. I start with work after payment, and after all information I need is turned over to me. I give my clients a timetable of how long a project will take.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a Bachelor's Degree in English. Other than this, I had my own Human Resources company for a considerable number of years, which makes me very familiar with what companies are looking for when it comes to employees. Prior to my HR stint, I worked for a PR-Advertising agency. This is an edge that I have as a content writer. Put all these education and training together and that sums up my competitive edge.
