FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Alex charges $30 for 30 minute lessons, $35 for 45 minutes, and $40 for one hour.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first thing that Alex asks of a student is what their goals are. In order to set up a plan for a new student, Alex need to assess their current level of technique and experience. Once he has learned enough about how they play, his goal is to start building on elements of their playing that need work. Alex finds that this most often begins with solidifying their technique. Having good technique is the first step to being able to play any piece assigned to you with ease. Once Alex has given them a handful of appropriate technique exercise for them to work on over time, he will assign them pieces of music starting at an easy level until they come across a piece that they find difficult and need to spend many weeks on. From this, Alex can assess their repertoire level and can assign them appropriate pieces from then on.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Alexander Lewis studies with cellist Horacio Contreras at Lawrence University Conservatory of Music where he is pursuing a degree in Music Performance. He grew up in Seattle, Washington studying with cellists Mary Walters and Rajan Krishnaswami and playing in the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras.
