Ben did a great job – better than the original installation. He came back a couple times to install drywall behind the vanity, sand it, and paint it. I am thrilled with his work.

My water softener had a small drip/leak resulting in drywall damage. David fixed my water softener, he was thorough and made sure it would no longer leak, preventing further damage. Very professional and easy to work/schedule the appointment.

Lyndell did an outstanding job on our powder room. He came to our home to give us an estimate. He told what exactly needed to be done. He showed me the area needing repairs. Other companies expanded the area of repair in their estimates. He worked tirelessly on the project. The powder room looks like no work was ever done. Excellent. I highly recommend Lyndell's Home Remodel and Repair.

We initially contacted Finish Specialists to paint our kitchen cabinets, but after discussing our plans we handed over the entire project of also removing some fake brick work, drywall work and painting our kitchen and adjoining hallways. These guys were always professional and responsive to our concerns/needs. Very competitive in pricing too. They even came back to rework some drywall that wasn't quite right. If it's painting you need these are your guys! I would suggest they find someone and dedicate that individual to drywall work. Good team but they are spread just a bit thin as they try to juggle all their projects.

I had Josh put in new front doors, new windows and hang drywall and other small jobs. He even assembled a dresser for me which had a whole mess of pieces to it. Everything came out looking great!! He does quality work with no mess left behind. And his pricing is unbeatable everyone else wanted double or more.

The price was reasonable - 2 day job to paint roughly 1,000 square feet of wall / ceiling space - 2 coats plus a couple small dry wall repairs. Friendly. They showed up on time and did a great job. Moved furniture & pictures from the walls that were too large for me to move. Returned all furniture and pictures to their locations. Cleaned up from day one to day two. I would rehire for another painting job.

We hired Steamatic for some drywall repair and painting as well as carpet cleaning. Alex and his team did a great job on the drywall and painting. They were able to match the texture that was already there and we were very pleased with the finished look. We were also very happy with the carpet cleaning.

Choose Weston! It's hard to find good help. Weston was great! If you want someone who cares, works as hard as you would and be fair about price, then look no further. These apps and sites are difficult to use because of reliability and I typically don't try to use them, but I'm glad I did. I hired a "reputable" company through a general contractor to put up drywall in two bathrooms and a hallway. They came back 2 times over a span of 5 weeks! and you could still see lines, bad corners and outlets that wouldn't fit. It was inexcusable...unbelievable, really. When Weston saw the work he couldn't believe it. He went over the project with me in thorough detail to make sure we were on the same page, he informed me of any other areas that were of concern that he found and went above and beyond. Since the bathrooms were on opposite sides of the house, he patched two areas (not included in the scope of work) that were visibly damaged from a chair and fixed them, just because he saw them. Although small, quick fixes, it was this type of detail and hard work that showed throughout the project. Needless to say, the walls look like they did before the damage. He worked as long as he had to and got it done right. After living in a hotel for a month and a half and waiting another month for the "reputable" company that we hired to get it close to being right, it was nice to finally find someone who cared and got the job done above expectations. All I can say is thank you.

Jim was very quick responding to all my concerns and questions. In fact we had we had two other contractor’s in prior and Jim was on the was the only that gave us quote. He also started on time and finished a day early. Jim’s work was outstanding and reasonably priced, so much in fact that our realtor asked for his contact if information. I will certainly be contacting Jim and more drywall needs.

Trent and Jacob are amazing!! They do great work for a great value. I ended up having them do more than I expected. They are all around great handymen/carpenters. They pretty much did it all from tile on the kitchen floor to drywall to a new door frame and a roof! Love these guys. I am having them come back to do the rest of my house when I am ready. Highly recommend!

We are currently in the planning stages of our project and will begin work in June. Thus far, Chris and Jason have been simply amazing. We are planning a total reno of our backyard and were not quite sure what we wanted to do. Premier Service Group came out and looked at our yard and within a few days came back with computer generated images of a base plan so we could envision how it would look. We discussed different options and they were very helpful with knowledgeable suggestions that made it a lot of fun to work with them, no stress. Chris went above and beyond in researching safe options for our pets and foster dogs to be around. We are so looking forward to working with this group, cannot wait to see our finished product!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

  • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
  • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

  • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
  • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
  • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
