I have been studying music composition with Jon for over 3 years. He has also beautifully played the accompaniments for my composed songs (all of several instruments) and recorded my songs at his home recording studio. Jon is a very dedicated teacher who loves to teach, and has a deep and diverse knowledge of all things musical. He is knowledgeable in all genres of music, and will happily teach any facet of music, and any type of music that his students get excited about. His knowledge of music theory is amazing, his notation skills meticulous, and his ability to instantly transcribe or play any recorded music he hears is almost unbelievable. One of my favorite things to do with Jon is to bring in a CD of some kind of music that excites me, but that I know little about, and have him listen to it, and instantly analyze and explain it to me, from a compositional standpoint. Jon is always on time for our sessions, and is always completely attentive, creatively innovative and deeply involved in the teaching process when with me.

I have always regretted giving up playing guitar when I was a teenager. When my teenage son started playing bass in his schools jazz band I was motivated to see if I could play again. I struggling for months attempting to use the internet and learn on my own before meeting Ken Fought while he was playing at a friends wedding. I was so impressed with his artistry with the guitar that I scheduled lessons for both my son and I. Ken has helped rekindle my passion for music and continues to work with me in improving my skill and confidence in playing my guitar.

Review for William Powers I am a non-professional singer interested in improving my overall level of performance in both solo and choral situations. I have worked with Mr. Powers on several occasions in preparation for a vocal recital and an opera performance, and I truly cannot recommend him highly enough! Not only is he great fun to work with, he is able to quickly and accurately assess my strengths and weaknesses as a performer, and offer practical advice that I can put into use immediately. He is particularly effective in helping me bring a song to life by examining the emotional content of the music and lyrics, and then presenting it in such a way as to deeply touch the hearts and minds of my listeners. Whatever your current level of skill as a singer, actor, or public speaker, and whether you are an amateur or professional performer, Mr. Powers can give you the inspiration and the practical tools to move on to a much higher level!

Guy Fiorentini has been my guitar teacher for several years... When I started, i knew nothing about guitar except I liked it. I have learned about music technically, and aesthetically and how to make music ... on the guitar! He has introduced me to many talented musicians as well as his own Milwaukee Hot Club... (awesome). There was/ is so much more to learn; rhythm, chords, ear training... especially ear training.. He challenges me at each lesson and the motivation is there all the time. I want to succeed and he motivates me to no end... A great teacher! A great person as well!!!

Vicki performed on what turned out to be one of the most memorable days of my entire life. I asked her to play inside of the lobby of a helicopter concierge tour building while I proposed to my girlfriend on our Anniversary after our flight tour landed. Working with her was a true pleasure because she was flexible and more than willing to accommodate my requests. I compared pricing from multiple other violin players and she was by far the most reasonable. Vicki quoted me a very fair price because I only needed her services for less than an hour due to the nature of the situation. I was going to get down on one knee as she played 3 songs that I custom chose from a list of song suggestions that she provided. I asked her to learn my girlfriend's favorite Ed Sheeran song and performed it perfectly. Unfortunately, our helicopter tour got cancelled 4 hours before take-off due to the unexpected heavy snowfall. I had no plan B at the time and decided to ask her if she could perform outside under the Bean(Cloud Gate) in Millennium Park. My request also included pushing the performance back two hours, while it was freezing cold and snowing out. Vicki was able to seamlessly coordinate with two of my fiancé's friends to take photos and video of the entire proposal while timing everything flawlessly. Vicki deserves high praise for her reliability and adaptability during a stressful situation for me. I was not expecting her to accommodate my tall request, but she delivered on every level. I was so impressed with her professionalism and attention to detail that I insisted on tipping her to match her original performance fee she quoted.(As a side note, she never asked for any additional money when I completely changed the plan to having her perform outside in bad weather.) There are very few people that would have been willing to accommodate my requests on such short notice. Vicki contributed to an amazing night and elevated the entire experience. My fiancé and I will NEVER forget how perfect our engagement turned out and the selfless contribution that Vicki made to ensure that it was a success. I would recommend Violin by Vicki to anyone that wants to hire a talented, kind-hearted, professional that exceeds all expectations. Cheers!

More than just a teacher. I took guitar lessons with Paul for eight years. He helped me realize my natural ear for music, and allowed me to figure out what I wanted to learn. Our lessons were always different. Sometimes I would bring in songs that I wanted to learn, and sometimes he would have things he thought I should know how to play, which helped me learn similar songs later on. When I was applying to college and needed to learn how to read music and play jazz guitar, he tailored all of our lessons so that I could learn those techniques quickly and most importantly, efficiently. Paul's personality transcends the teacher-student relationship, which allowed he and I to become very good friends. Paul William is an excellent teacher for whatever you need to learn. You can't go wrong taking lessons from him.

Pete and I regularly performed, wrote music and recorded albums together in Shenzhen, China from 20012-2014. I've traveled the world and have performed/collaborated w musicians from all walks of life. Without a doubt, Pete is one of the best. His unique melodic & harmonic guitar colorings are essential in what set him apart from other composers. Pete knows how to listen to each song and write to meet the needs of that song. Pete's written well over 3 albums worth of music and has produce a few of his own music videos. Pete is also a seasoned music teacher, having 3-5 years of classroom teaching of guitar, ukulele in China as well as private lessons in the US over the last decade. And then there's performing: Pete's performed in all manner of venues, all types of bands and with eclectic and unique musicians. Theres very little he hasn't experienced. Whether you want to develop your guitar chops, learn how to song write, pro tips and pointers on performance - Trust me, Pete Kruse is your mentor. I'm his peer and I have learned countless skills from him. He gets my full recommendation.

Kathryn was exactly what I envisioned when I set out to find a jazz singer for my father in law's birthday party. Her voice is seriously gorgeous and she was very easy to work with. She was flexible with me throughout our time planning the gig and was able to accommodate all of my requests. While her song list is quite vast, there were a few special tunes she specifically learned for this event and they sounded fabulous. She found the perfect accompaniment in a very talented guitar player as well. Throughout the time Kathryn performed and for hours afterwards I received compliments from other guests for finding such a talented duo. The men and women alike were very impressed with the quality of music, song selections, appearance, and demeanor of both musicians. Everyone thought the music really added something special to the party. Most importantly, my father in law was absolutely amazed with what wound up being the perfect gift for him. He was very impressed and I was so happy to see his face when Kathryn sang one of the songs she especially learned for us. He'll never forget it. I'd hire Kathryn again in a heartbeat.

The Alba Quartet played a performance recently for the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, as part of both our Sunday Musicale series, and our One Book, One Village initiative. Carlyn went above and beyond to connect with the One Book, One Village title, "The Geography of Genius", talking about the life and genius of Mozart, and playing his works beautifully. The audience absolutely loved the performance, as you can see below from a few of the comments we received in our online program survey: “Enjoyable performance by the Alba Quartet” “I wasn't expecting the flutist to speak, but truly appreciated how she 'narrated' the quartet's performance. Her comments were informative, interesting, insightful, funny and tied to the book Geography of Genius. I liked the way the other musicians introduced themselves by talking about where they are from and where they've studied/performed music, again linking to the book.” “The quartet members are skilled musicians and seemed very happy to be part of the program at the library. Unless we could have sipped champagne during the performance, I can't think of a single way to improve the experience. Thank you!” “Excellent musical group which did an exceptional job of playing Mozart's music!” “Beautiful music and a lovely selection of Mozart works. Very interesting tidbits of info on Mozart as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the program” Many thanks to the Alba Quartet for providing the Arlington Heights community with such a high-caliber music program!

Eric was outstanding!! We booked him two days before the party. He took the time to review our requests and desired music. The one song requested for my husband he knocked out of the park! Eric welcomed requests and really made the audience feel a part of the music and the party. All of our guests contacted us after the party to say what a wonderful time they had and how much enjoyed Eric. Would highly recommend!

Paul Tadder is a compassionate and knowledgeable teacher in the way that he connects with the individual as much as the music in lessons that feel as though they are tailored to the student. Though he is well versed in many styles of playing and many genres of music he is able to meet a person at the level they are at to meet their goals musically and in technique with ample support and encouragement. Highly recommended for the beginner all the way to the seasoned professional.

He was very professional and a great musician. Would be great for dinner music/background music. Not as good for assisted living entertainment as this population did not "understand" his music.

Working with Michelle, to enhance my (toddler) son's music enrichment has been such a delightful experience. She is always charming and excited to work with him. And he has no idea he's learning early music theory; he simply loves the games she puts to music. I am extremely satisfied with our decision to start him early on; we have no doubt every chance to meet with her prepares him for future music lessons!

I enthusiastically support the recommendation of Nicole Auriemma for employment as an entertainer (guitarist and vocalist) in the Chicago area. I have known Nicole Auriemma for the past year and have employed her numerous times to provide musical entertainment during our summer villa events. Nicole always showed up on time and entertained our guests on a very professional level. Nicole is a pleasure to work with and always brings a smile and positive attitude whenever she plays guitar. It is very apparent that she enjoys performing for audiences in any type of environment." Sincere and best regards, Steven T. Samson

My first lesson with Albert led me to believe that playing the piano is something I would like to pursue. He made it fun and taught me the key names in the matter of minutes. Thank you for showing me that playing the piano is just as enjoyable as listening to it.
