I am a private instructor on several instruments as well as a performing solo guitarist, singer songwriter who often performs in duos, trios and bands.
TEACHING
I specialize in acoustic guitar music, solo instrumental guitar and also teach beginning piano, electric bass, ukelele, and some electric guitar styles. I received my BFA - Guitar Performance from UW-Milwaukee and WI Conservatory of Music.
Becoming a musician is a process that anyone can follow. Whether you want to better understand music in theory, learn a particular song or even just focus on a key phrase or lick, I can lead you through the steps to developing musical skill and ability. I'll also make the process enjoyable and fun.
I offer weekly and on-call lessons in my studio. I can also make arrangements to teach you in your home, within a ten-mile radius of HeadStock Music or on days that I'm performing in your area. Lessons are also available online through Skype.
PERFORMANCE
While at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music I specialized in American fingerstyle guitar. I play solo guitar pieces, commonly referred to as classical guitar, however I play on a steel string acoustic and the music is a mix of American music styles: folk, jazz, rock, blues and country. My strongest instrument has always been my voice and I initially studied guitar to be better accompany myself. I enjoy songs from blues, folk, rock, country and jazz styles.
I am also a writer and enjoy singing my own songs in a concert/ house concert settings. In most background situations I favor familiar popular songs from multiple eras with a few originals thrown into the mix.
Currently, I play solo under my own name, and in The Mugs; a blues folk trio with guitar, mandolin and harmonica. Occasionally I sing in a folk harmony duo called the Sugar Daddies but mainly I'm out doing a hundred plus solo guitar and song performances a year. I've also done some side projects in a Replacements cover band and an Eagles cover band. Visit my website to hear musical samples.
