FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
After obtaining almost $10,000 in fundraising efforts from family and friends we received a service dog for our autistic son. We had so much faith that this would be the best thing in the world for our son and we're so disappointed in what we received. What we received was a very hyperactive, not quite even one year old, puppy that not only didn't know even the basic obedience commands but didn't even know her own name. To see the disappointment on our son's face was just heartbreaking. And any contact with our concerns to the nonprofit organization that we had acquired the dog from was met with closed doors. The answers were always, "we'll ell she knew how to do that when she was here." There was never any follow through with any training issues we had or may have been having and no working relationship once the dog was placed. The dog also had numerous medical issues that we needed to address. We know that when you own any animal there us always the possibility of medical issues but it was the lack of concern from the nonprofit that upset us. The dog needlessly suffered for longer than necessary because of the lack of communication on their part. None of this should ever have happened.
