Introduction: We offer woodworking from log to livingroom. Cabinetmaking and Furniture We make cabinets and furniture including kitchen cabinets for new or existing buildings. We also make a variety of furniture including tables, desks, benches and chairs. Portable Saw Milling The sawmill is moved to the location of the trees. I have both a Wood-Mizer band saw mill and a Peterson WPF from New Zealand, where I went for sawmill training in 2008. The Peterson WPF is the only one in Wisconsin. It is a swing-blade design, and it is especially useful for large trees. The trees can be made into structural lumber for building (or repair) such 2x4s, 2x6s for walls or roofs and 2x10s for floors. I am certified by the state of Wisconsin to produce structural lumber for 1 or 2 family homes. The lumber can be utilized for building material such as sheeting and siding. It can also be used for furniture and cabinets. Drying After the lumber is sawn, it should be dried before use. I have a Nyle dehumidification kiln for furniture and cabinet stock. The structural lumber can be air dried or solar kilned. Planing After the lumber is dried, it should be planed. I have a 22” powermatic industrial planer. 4-Side Planing and Molding The Logosol 260 (from Sweden) planes and molds the four sides of a board in one pass, and it can be used to produce structural lumber, siding or various moldings. Over 500 different molding knives are available, and custom knives can be made to match an existing molding at a very reasonable price. Building Construction We provide a variety of building construction services including consultation, design (using computer software), new construction, remodeling, additions and repair. The restoration work we did at the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio in Oak Park, Illinois has been featured on This Old House and the PBS Frank Lloyd Wright special.
