About
I have been playing the guitar and bass for 40+ years and have been teaching music since 1978. I am a 1999 graduate of UW Parkside with a B.A. in music (classical guitar performance), and I was the first student in that school's history to graduate from the jazz studies program. Another great learning experience was my year at the famed Musician's Institute (G.I.T.) completing the then 1-year program as well as pursuing private studies with Pat Martino and Robben Ford. I have performed in a variety of groups at many venues in the Midwest and on the West Coast. My educational philosophy is to accept students of any age and level of ability and to tailor the lessons to the needs of that individual. I am comfortable teaching all styles of music such as blues, rock, metal, jazz, funk, R&B, classical, country, folk, etc. Students can learn fingerpicking, improvising/soloing, learning songs by ear and/or by note reading, music theory, composition/songwriting and a whole variety of related subjects. I strive to make learning an enjoyable experience for both of us. I teach electric and acoustic guitar, electric bass guitar (with fingers, pick, thumb, and slap/pop styles), mandolin, and ukulele. I offer lessons in Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha. I hope you give me chance to help you on your musical journey. Regards, Kenny Fought I understand frustration. When I started, I got so discouraged that I quit playing for nearly a year. On my second try I was able, with help, to get over the little bumps in the road. It hasn't always been easy for me, so I think perhaps I'm a better teacher than someone who didn't have struggle with it like I did (and sometimes still do!). I really like helping people to understand that while it isn't always easy, if you persist, you will be able to really play. Even though I have been doing this a long time, seeing the light go on when a student gets it, or reaches a goal, never gets old for me.

Only one lesson so far, but we seem to be a good fit. He's very knowledgeable and gets where I'm wanting to go, giving me direction I need to improve, plus I enjoyed the lesson...

Ken is a very enthusiastic and talented musician and an excellent instructor. I have played amateurish guitar for 30 years and just thought I didn't have the gift to be a better guitarist. After only three lessons, my skills have improved dratiscally and Kenny even said at times it sounded professional. I highly recommend Kenny for anyone who is serious about learning or improving this skill!

I have been playing the guitar for most of my life. I began taking lessons with Ken when I was only 14 years old. I didn't know what to expect when walking through his door for the first time, but what I took away was life changing. Not only was Ken patient with me, and informative, he also has a sense of humor that puts you at ease. He is creative, and wants to see his student succeed. He makes learning fun! Ken is filled with talent, and is able to break down any tune and teach it to you in one session. All he asks, is that you practice. He will help to shape even the most tone def person, into an incredible improv musician. I have seen him do this on more than one occasion. He taught most everyone I knew growing up, how to play the guitar or the bass. Whether you are just starting out, or you are beginning again; Ken goes out of his way to help his students to feel confident, inspired, determined, and at ease, no matter what level they are at. I still ask Ken for his expert opinion on music I have composed. I have had refresher sessions with him, and even put my five year old son into lessons with him! I would recommend Ken over any other guitar teacher. If you are considering taking lessons, look no further. you won't regret it.

I have always regretted giving up playing guitar when I was a teenager. When my teenage son started playing bass in his schools jazz band I was motivated to see if I could play again. I struggling for months attempting to use the internet and learn on my own before meeting Ken Fought while he was playing at a friends wedding. I was so impressed with his artistry with the guitar that I scheduled lessons for both my son and I. Ken has helped rekindle my passion for music and continues to work with me in improving my skill and confidence in playing my guitar.
