About
I have been playing the guitar and bass for 40+ years and have been teaching music since 1978. I am a 1999 graduate of UW Parkside with a B.A. in music (classical guitar performance), and I was the first student in that school's history to graduate from the jazz studies program. Another great learning experience was my year at the famed Musician's Institute (G.I.T.) completing the then 1-year program as well as pursuing private studies with Pat Martino and Robben Ford. I have performed in a variety of groups at many venues in the Midwest and on the West Coast. My educational philosophy is to accept students of any age and level of ability and to tailor the lessons to the needs of that individual. I am comfortable teaching all styles of music such as blues, rock, metal, jazz, funk, R&B, classical, country, folk, etc. Students can learn fingerpicking, improvising/soloing, learning songs by ear and/or by note reading, music theory, composition/songwriting and a whole variety of related subjects. I strive to make learning an enjoyable experience for both of us. I teach electric and acoustic guitar, electric bass guitar (with fingers, pick, thumb, and slap/pop styles), mandolin, and ukulele. I offer lessons in Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha. I hope you give me chance to help you on your musical journey. Regards, Kenny Fought I understand frustration. When I started, I got so discouraged that I quit playing for nearly a year. On my second try I was able, with help, to get over the little bumps in the road. It hasn't always been easy for me, so I think perhaps I'm a better teacher than someone who didn't have struggle with it like I did (and sometimes still do!). I really like helping people to understand that while it isn't always easy, if you persist, you will be able to really play. Even though I have been doing this a long time, seeing the light go on when a student gets it, or reaches a goal, never gets old for me.

My 15yr old daughter has been taking lessons for 4 weeks and it is going great! Kenny is a fabulous fit for my daughter and he makes lessons and learning enjoyable. He shares his experiences so she knows what is coming and that with practice she can overcome any obstacle and become the guitar player she wants to be. His pace is appropriate and so are his lessons. She is very pleased with her progress and looks forward to each lesson and challenge. She is already sounding pretty good! I would absolutely recommend Kenny, I'm glad we found him!

I've been taking guitar lessons from Ken for 3 weeks now. I had tried to learn on my own for several years and never got anywhere. This is why I decided to find an instructor using this service. Before I even met Ken he tought me some things I wasn't aware of - not finding it in any videos or written materials online. I think a lot of people that play instruments forget what it is to learn it. Ken has helped with this, I was pressing on the strings too hard and in the wrong areas. He helped with holding the guitar correctly, tuning it, and more. In three weeks I can play 6 chords already, and made more progress than what I did on my own over 3 years. So far, so good!

Only one lesson so far, but we seem to be a good fit. He's very knowledgeable and gets where I'm wanting to go, giving me direction I need to improve, plus I enjoyed the lesson...

Ken is a very enthusiastic and talented musician and an excellent instructor. I have played amateurish guitar for 30 years and just thought I didn't have the gift to be a better guitarist. After only three lessons, my skills have improved dratiscally and Kenny even said at times it sounded professional. I highly recommend Kenny for anyone who is serious about learning or improving this skill!

Good personality. He takes the time to learn what YOU want to learn, all you need to do as the client, is to just know what you want to learn. He has a really good ear, he can listen to a song you like, and just by listening to it, he can tell exactly what cords are being played and to what level of tuning. It's crazy good!
