The Photo is a guy I know as Nathan (Nate) Smith of Peshtigo, WI. He provided me with a Contract to do an asphalt roofing job,( Labor Only), for $1,000.00 and asked for $500.00 up-front, to pay his helper(s). The Contract was signed by both parties and I paid him the $500.00, receiving a written/signed confirmation of the payment. 15 trim boards were installed, which took 4 days. He has not called or come back to the job in 3 weeks. However, his "work" trailer is still in my driveway. He has refused to return any of the $500.00 as of 9/9/2014. If he can not do roofing, he should not have given me a contract which states that he would do the work.
Smith Painting's reply
Hello veiwers, this is Nathan Smith. Im responding to the reveiw from LaTours.(the only complaint ive had in 18 years operating business in Marinette-Tri city area. Yes we agreed that customers would buy (most of the materials) roofing supplys. I used my own screws/ nails, caulk. And i didnt ask for reinbursment on any of my supplys. Which also originally was going to be metal roofing. We agreed to $1000 (abt 40% discount) This contract was a fixed bid. Not hourly, therefore if we have 5, 15, or 100 manhours the price is the same. Also owners confirmed they would have @ least one laborer for me to help, thus being partial reason for discount.. Well i never received any help from "their" worker, and within 2 days of starting job was informed by owner, that "their" laborer would not be helping @ all... I didnt cause any problms, didnt change my orig. price..( i shld have, my bad) Yes there was a contract, but no where on that contract does it state any customer becomes priority. Exterior work is also weather permitting, which sets things back. Common sense ya knw. Im sorry but im honestly appalled by the entire thing. So customers broke contract w/out my knowing and had somebody do it. Using my tools/ladders. Bostitch roofing airnailer, for most of the job. And my job trailer that has HD locks on it , they took it upon themselves w/out my permission and took bolt cutters n cut my lock in proceeded to go in trailer..? I beleive that B&E. Not smart.
