FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I try to target my prices at around $75/hour (including prep time) for events, depending on client & location in order to cover local, state & federal taxes. However, I don't as of yet have a fixed cost sheet since I am only now doing the DJ thing professionally.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I first meet personally with each client (either face-to-face or via teleconference) to assist me with understanding their event expectations. Once I know what they want to accomplish, I preview some of my works to the client which I believe would make a great fit for their event. Once we have agreed to the event content, I then simply make a timetable for the event, which includes the music-video portions that I offer. Once the timing has been established, I then provide the client with the cost required to cover the event (which might also include travel and lodging, depending on venue location). If everything looks like a go on each side, the client would then be offered an event contract (which may or may not include a deposit).
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Arizona State University (fantastic party school!) & a masters degree in industrial technology from East Carolina University (another great party school!). I also have a love of linguistics, which includes a familiarity with both the Russian and Chinese languages. I have NOT a bone of musical talent in my body. However, I am a good listener and love to comprehend/interpret lyrics of my favorite music! Which brings me into the DJ profession.
