Introduction: A graduate of NHI, a nationally accredited school for Massage Therapy, I have over 900 hours of training and education in all areas pertaining to massage. My massage is customized for each client depending on areas of tension, stress, or trauma. Prior to each paid session, I do a no-cost, 10 minute, clothed, full body assessment looking for posture and areas of limited range of motion. I also ask about previous injuries, and/or doctors release for massage if there are any questionable contraindications for circulatory bodywork. This information aids me in creating not only a comfortable, safe environment for my client, but also in formulating an individualized massage that fits YOUR needs. Therapeutic massage sessions should not be gauged by the time spent hands on, but the quality of bodywork being provided. I am a compassionate professional and am firm on my belief in the personal healing massage offers, which makes this more of a passion than a paycheck. My clients appreciate this about me, and I believe it has allowed me to provide an experience for each of them that sets me apart from the rest :) I am a body awareness educator. The massage field is so saturated, yet I find that not enough therapists are educating their clients about how to PREVENT further aches and pains. I do have clients who strictly prefer to relax, and I am happy to offer relaxation upon request... BUT has anyone ever told you that the pain you feel in your upper back and neck could be attributed to the way you sit inside your car, or at the table, or at your desk? Have you ever really consciously thought about the way that you stand? Maybe you naturally lean to the right? That is body awareness :) \ After just a couple sessions with my clients, I am usually able to decipher these habits you practice based on strictly a visual assessment. There is also the factor of past bodily trauma. Remember when you seemingly stepped "wrong" and it sent a pain up your leg? or you fell on your side or tailbone? Whether it happened recently or 2 decades ago...your body remembers. The scar tissue is still there, and because of this what you may call insignificant misstep, you don't recognize that it may have started a domino effect within your muscles and surrounding tissues, that could be a major contributor to your neck pain today? Yeah, I said neck. It's all connected. Imagine if you've misstepped multiple times? I ran into these questions a lot while learning to hone my craft, and after applying this theory using my basic knowledge of pain patterns and trigger points in the body, my clients felt they could go without massage longer than before. My clients I was seeing every 2 weeks, become once a month, etc. I LOVE IT. This is what drives my passion for massage. My reward is in my clients overall relief from muscular distress, and the awareness and sense of well-being that follow.
