Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Most of my career has involved writing and editing news stores, feature articles, blogs, fundraising materials, and educational resources for style, content, and grammar. I have had the unique opportunity of working with a vast spectrum of content from professional journalists, established bloggers, and inexperienced, aspiring writers. I enjoy listening to a customer's vision for their project and using my editorial skills to not only achieve that vision, but exceed the expectations.

Jackie is an exceptional leader. Her attention to detail is impressive, and her work product is always top-notch. I've enjoyed having her as an editor while with Watchdog.org, and I know that she's dedicated to accuracy, good writing, and ensuring that those working under her direction are appreciated, and are rewarded for work well done. I hope to have the opportunity in the future to work with her again!

Jackie was my editor at WatchdogWire.com, a citizen journalism site run by the Franklin Center for Public Integrity for three years. I was a state editor, and Jackie was the managing editor for the site as a whole. She was a great pleasure to work with. Normally the jobs of editing for copy, clarity, and journalistic quality would be separated into three separate positions, but Jackie handled them all. In addition, as assignment editor, Jackie routinely suggested quality stories for state editors and reporters to follow up on .

Five stars! Jackie was a great editor for me. I was Pacific Northwest Editor for Watchdog Wire, and she was my national editor. She was also my editor at Watchdog Arena. She was a very tough editor, but very fair. She took the time to really think about what I was saying, and tried to think of better ways that I could say it. She carefully checked every reference and source. Like me, she was passionate about getting the truth told, and holding powerful people accountable for their actions. I really enjoyed working with Jackie, and I learned a lot from her. I recommend her highly!

Jackie is an invaluable team member to our non-profit. Her work ethic is unparalleled - if you need something done, she is the person on your team you go to first. She listens closely, and asks clarifying questions to ensure that the end results are the best results. Pleasant and professional at all times!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My rate is determined by the breadth of the project and the deadline. I don't charge hourly rates. Before the start of the project, customers are to put 25% of the agreed price down as a security fee. I allow up to 2 revisions for each project. With each revision, another 25% will be paid by the customer until the final revision, during which the final balance will be due.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

In 2011, I graduated cum laude from Binghamton University with bachelor's degree in English, General Literature and Rhetoric. After graduation, I worked for a public policy think tank in Washington, DC, where I was trained to writer clever articles on wonky issues being discuss on Capitol Hill. Later, I spent 3-and-a-half years working as a managing editor and writer for a government watchdog news publication, covering state and local issues. I've also helped various nonprofits with writing and editing fundraising materials.
