Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard rate is $170 an hour; however, Thumbtack clients receive a discounted rate for their first 6 sessions. Because I understand that most clients cannot afford these rates, I do work on a sliding scale for clients who are having financial difficulties.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with new clients, I like to listen to their needs and wants in order to design a therapeutic plan that is unique to them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology, Master's degree in Organizational management (which assists me in managing my office details), Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. I am also a Hypnotist and I utilize hypnotherapy to treat clients who struggle with addictions and changing negative thought patterns. Although I specialize in relationships and family issues, I have also worked with clients who have overcome substance abuse and are looking for a means to maintain their sobriety. Additionally, I am a life coach and specialize in helping my clients identify personality traits to assist them in finding the perfect career path. As a hypnotist, I help clients with smoking cessation, weight loss, changing negative thought patterns, pain management, and much more.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always wanted to be a psychologist. I believe I had this desire, because of my own struggles within my family as a child. Growing up in a dysfunctional household made me realize how important it is to have access to affordable healthcare. My background allows me to understand other peoples' familial struggles and not to judge them because of it.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with a variety of clients. In my practice I specialize in helping with family and relationship struggles, but I have many clients who come to see me for career problems, past substance abuse, Low self-esteem, and much more.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Because I am a psychotherapist, there are no "projects" that I work on; however, I pride myself on tailoring all my treatment plans to fit the unique needs of my clients. Since every client is different, each treatment plan is designed to fit each one's special needs. I am able to accomplish this by listening intently to my clients and designing a treatment that best fits them.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would tell my clients to meet with the therapist and decide if you are a great fit with them. I tell my clients that we are in a partnership and it is important to have trust in each member in order for this partnership to be a success. If after meeting your therapist for the first time and you feel you are not a great fit, then it will be difficult to establish trust.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
When seeing a therapist, it is important to know what you want to change in your life in order to give the therapist a point of direction.
