Introduction: I offer Pilates and Personal Training sessions. Workouts are uniquely customized to meet your fitness goals, based on my wide base of knowledge and experience. My workouts are fun, focused and challenging! We'll work together to achieve optimal, effective results in your body. I hold certifications across many different types of fitness: National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, Stott Pilates Instructor Matwork/Reformer/Springwall/Cadillac/Chair/Barrels, Group Exercise, and Aquatic Fitness. I'm warm, energetic, reliable, and have strong anatomy knowledge in addition to my certifications. I'm passionate about fitness, movement, empowering individuals to find greater body awareness, build strength and flexibility for greater well-being. Emphasis on proper alignment and safety. I enjoy working with all ages and body types, from those who are looking to create significant change in their body structure, to those who are looking to getting stronger, increase range of motion, reduce pain/tension, rehab an injury, address specific conditions, or actively aging individuals. Specialties include: strengthening the core, toning full body, reducing low back pain, increasing flexibility, optimizing posture, creating a healthier spine, and overall increasing strength and length in the body.

Melissa has been my Personal Trainer for the past 9 months and to her credit is the only person in my life who has ever managed to kick my butt and keep me coming back for more. I knew that I needed to get over the 4 week hump of exercise in order to make it part of my regular routine and Melissa's style of training was exactly what I needed. She creates workouts that are fun and challenging and most of them she has also completed earlier in the day herself which makes me walk away feeling like I am capable of more than I realized, in other words, "oh my gosh Melissa found that hard too, I must really be working myself." She listens to my likes, dislikes and body changes and adapts the workouts where needed; in order to push my limits but not scare me away. Melissa's knowledge of the human body is phenomenal but her life experiences are even more impressive. She knows so much about the theory and practice of Pilates, Yoga, Meditation and the more traditional athletic techniques including circuits, swimming, cycling, running etc. Make sure you do a restorative yoga session with her, so worth it. I cannot speak more highly of Melissa, she has become an integral part of my life.

Melissa is an amazing trainer! I was trying to get back in shape following surgery and Melissa was a key variable in my path back to health! She is friendly, encouraging, really knowledgeable (she's certified across many different types of fitness) and with a strong foundation and focus on core/powerhouse due to her Pilates background. She was able to assess my needs as my body healed, and was able to customize workouts and provide modifications to exercises, as I regained strength and mobility in my muscles, structure, etc. Awesome teacher all around!

I recently did a one-on-one session with Melissa and we focused on Pilates mat work. Who knew it could be so challenging, yet so effective and eye opening? I left feeling a brand new awareness about my spine, abdominal muscles, and learned some great exercises I can do on my own to build and increase core strength and endurance. Her knowledge and enthusiasm has inspired me to look forward to my next workout with Melissa ! Robert D

I was in San Francisco on a business trip and wanted to keep up my workout routine from my personal trainer at home. I found Melissa on thumbtack and she came to my hotel gym. It was a great strength training workout, with Pilates abs and back exercises, in addition to balance and coordination challenges. Was really effective and I felt great afterward, slept really well. So glad to have met Melissa and would surely train with her again next time I'm in town!

Melissa is awesome!! She tailored to my needs and know what to do to help focus on my goals. I got my bikini body and amazing shoulders in a short period of time! She is movtivated, very active, and easy going. Every workout with her is so fun! If it wasn't for time and financial conflict I would continue training with Melissa.
