What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to interface with clients and find out their overall goals for the product they are creating. Then, I relate those goals to what users want and begin brainstorming & researching design directions. I communicate as much or as little as the client desires, and work hard to hit deadlines. I understand the process of revision, and I accept and give feedback very well.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Web Design and Interactive media from the Art Institute. I have a number of years in sales and marketing and I know how to create designs that are not only visually stunning, but that are also compelling and drive sales.
I've worked with major brands like Oakley, Google, and Carl's Jr. – as well as hundreds of small-medium sized businesses!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
The overall cost includes all billable hours, which encompasses time spent not only working in design programs, but also (and not limited to): consulting with clients, communication & emails, consulting, revising designs, uploading work, downloading assets, etc.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've loved art and design my entire life. From my first year in grade school, I had taken an art class every semester through graduating high school. I received scholarships and awards based on my creative and artistic abilities. I wanted a career that encouraged my entrepreneurial nature, while still allowing me to be creative. Paired with my deep passion for technology and the internet, web design came naturally. I have been creating industry-standard designs commercially for over 6 years now, and clients/employers tend to quickly recognize that it is very difficult to find anyone quite like me.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Everything from major brands (Oakley, Google, Carl's Jr., Wienersnitzel) to small & medium-sized business across the country. My portfolio consists of an endless variety of industries: Marketing, Organic Skin Care, Automotive, Solar Energy, Child Safety, Cyber Security, Food & Restaurants, Mobile Software, Property Management, Photography, News & Media, etc..
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently had the pleasure of working with a Cyber Security company called Cylance. I was responsible for designing their new, soon-to-be-launched website. I also created a number of branding elements, collateral, trade show materials, powerpoint presentations, and more. Cylance was exciting because I got to work on a product that was truly awesome, and helped a lot of people. The Cylance team was a great group of very smart and talented individuals, and within the first week of my month long contract, they made me feel right at home.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Using a professional to create the visual assets for your company was a great choice, so you are already heading in the right direction! Find a designer that can not only create and built what you are looking for, but also someone that will educate you and communicate openly.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Who is the primary target market for your project? Who will be providing/writing the content for the project? Do branding elements (logos, etc.) already exist, or do they need to be created? What are the deadlines for the project? Do you have any examples of what you like or are looking for?
