Introduction: One of the things that makes me stand out as an illustrator is the wide variety of styles I can bring to a project— from traditional methods to digital painting. I can do loose, sketchy styles of pencil and pen [digital or traditional], flatter, more stylized works, as well as fully rendered, intricately detailed pieces, and several styles in between. This means I can do everything from children's book illustrations to tattoos to fantasy portraits and book covers. I enjoy creating, period. Always have. Taking a concept from idea to piece of art can be SO fulfilling, especially when it's subject matter that excites me. This joy is translated throughout my work.

Micah worked with me on a very meaningful personal project...an art piece that would eventually be turned into a tattoo. I had some ideas that I wanted to explore, but really hoped I could find an artist that would collaborate and align with me. And, I certainly found that and more in Micah. He not only 'heard' me, but was able to meet me at a deeper level because he tuned into the meaning and symbolism of the project for me...which blew me away. We talked, we shared ideas and thoughts and his first design concept was exactly what I had in my mind but couldn't visualize. And refining it together was just as easy and organic. It was as if he brought life to something that always existed, which is a gift he possesses that's even greater than his pure skills as an artist, which is immense. I look forward to the next time we can work and create together, it's a process I will always remember.

Working on this project honestly yielded the single most accomplished digital painting I've yet to create. The entire process was magical and filled with tapping into both your vision and some of the energies that answered your/our invocation. I hired Micah (a totally rad artist and long time friend) to paint my fantasy portrait. It was a really liberating and awesome experience. Besides that I love the art he created of my fantasy self, I loved the idea and act of doing something cool for my self esteem Micah made me look more bad ass than I knew Icould... but I can still see its me!! The only thing I would do differently next time be to bring some friends to pose with me!

Micah is a multi-talented artist and designer. His use of various mediums and techniques is second to none. I am the proud owner of not one but two custom works of art by Micah. The first is a mixed media portrait of myself and the second is a custom Ninja Fairy illustration of my daughter and I. The most recent commission was influenced by his Urban Faerie project; giving brown girls like myself an opportunity to see themselves depicted as fairies. I absolutely love his work! Micah is great to work with and is an inspirational free spirit.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It really depends on quite a few factors including: the size of the final piece[s] they're looking for, the media, the timeline, what it's going to be used for and how difficult the project is, plus the amount of revisions they intend to request.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get an initial idea of the concept they're looking to get created, the timeline, and if they have a style preference for the artwork. We then set up a deposit [one third to half the final fee], and we go from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Received a BFA from Pratt Institute of Art and Design back in 2000. Worked through college and well after at Polo Ralph Lauren in both the Men's and Women's graphic design dept before quitting to become a full-time freelance artist in 2010. I've created everything from flyers to children's books, fantasy portraits to graphic novel art, pinups to posters, and a whole lot in between.
