Introduction: I am a photographer with 10 years of experience shooting shooting events, portraits, weddings, sports, and commercial work. I have a keen sense of light and work well with available lights -- from time spent in photojournalism and I am comfortable using a variety of studio lighting techniques. Michael provided the highest quality experience right from the moment his first reply popped into my inbox. He was enthusiastic about our event (a grand 500-guest affair held at Cipriani-Wall St.) and wanted to find out more about the venue, the guests, the lighting, etc. in order to provide the best set of photos for us. During the actual event, Michael was incredibly prolific, providing us with hundreds of excellent photos that ran from candids, portraits, venue pictures, and action shots that really captured the essence of the event. Working by himself, he was also able to take photos of every member of the party, a remarkable feat considering the manpower/guest ratio. At the same time, he was also very sociable and made everyone around him comfortable, a character that is often unspoken of in photographers. I noticed that as guests came to know him better, they would open up and trust him behind the camera to make them look as great as they imagined themselves to be. Post-event: Very quick turnaround- uploaded photos within a few days and damn did everyone look fine. TLDR: Amazing man who works magic with a camera. Michael captured our engagement photos in a series of action-shot style photos in Central Park. We did some posed shots, but some of the best shots were of us dancing. He was great with handling the outdoor lighting and capturing the motion and intimacy of these moments. We were so happy with how the photos came out that we asked Michael to photograph our wedding ceremony and reception. He did stunning work and also edited photos and sorted through them, helping to select the best ones, but still giving us access to all shots taken. Nearly three years later we hired him again to do some outdoor family portrait and action shots with our one-year old. His work is really beautiful and he is great with outdoor and action shots. So much better than canned studio photos. You can tell this is a passion for him, and he has an eye for the artistic. If you ask for portrait shots, you'll get them, but he'll also surprise you with some interesting angles and creative use of lighting to turn an ordinary setting into a stunning shot.

Michael shot the moment when I proposed to my now fiancé (she said yes!) on the Brooklyn Bridge. He did an incredible job of navigating the angles and crowd to get many breathtaking shots. Thanks to his great work we can cherish this moment forever and share with all of our family & friends. I would highly recommend Michael to anyone. Michael and his team were the photographers for the black tie gala for the Ascend Educational Fund, an event I chair. He was incredibly professional: arrived early, brought all the necessary lighting equipment, took amazing photos, and edited all the photos within a few days!

Michael Discenza was the photographer at our annual gala for the Women's Venture Fund. It is a 300 person event at Capitale with very senior industry leaders. Mike did an incredible job shooting the event. We received the most beautiful pictures. Mike was such a pleasure to work with, he has an incredible eye for detail and did not miss a beat.
