During my first year at the Harvard Kennedy School, Mala Paliwal coached me through the myriad personal and professional challenges I was facing. I was grappling with long-distant relationships with family members, as well as a few fraught relationships on campus. I was also trying to redefine myself in a highly competitive professional environment. Mala worked with me both in person and over the phone. She listened compassionately and without judgement. When you are with her, you are made to feel that you are all that matters. She has an incredible knack for asking questions to help me unravel my own assumptions. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I provide a complimentary first session for new customers. This helps both the customer and me to gauge how the sessions will work going forward.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have done extensive training, and personal development work over many years along with acquiring a Masters degree from Harvard University with a strong focus on adult/people and leadership development. Leadership here refers to an individual (not necessarily a person with authority) to create and lead an extraordinary life.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started working as a coach when colleagues at my workplace reached out to me for advice with respect to career, relationships, transforming their life, stress management etc. These were rewarding and motivating experiences for me. And with the encouragement of the colleagues I coached I decided to build up my practice as a Life Coach.
