- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Starr Junkie aims to create a comfortable learning environment for her students. Most of the teaching will be done based on the students prior skill level, and the goals he/she would like to obtain. For beginners, going over the technicalities of what the equipment does would be one of the first things I would go over and provide. Learning the specifics about the turntables about the mixer, about speakers, about correct audio setup is very important... This knowledge is as important as the mixing itself. Let's say a student wishes to learn to sharpen their skills of transitions or cuts, and understands the gear, we can skip to practicing right away. Maybe a student is wanting to switch from digital to vinyl records we can do that right away and begin practicing. Other important features I will show students is basic rhythms how to count their rhythms so that transitions become smoother in the long run. There are many basic steps as far as DJ gear and DJing itself. Learning those fundamentals opens up a door for the student to create possibilities for themselves. The best way to learn to do this is to practice and practice and practice.
