We had originally worked out an arrangement with Max whereby we had him excavate the yard where our patio was going in. He arrived and performed this first part of the job in a very timely and professional manner and was paid as such. Then, something changed: Max had agreed to haul the rock for our patio base four days after the initial excavation. However, he never showed up with the rock. After a phone call, he assured us he would come the next day. On that next day, he again did not show up and we received no phone call. We assumed something may have happened unexpectedly, so we called him back the next day. We were told he had a truck mishap, but the rock would be delivered within the next 2 days. We waited, and no rock arrived over the net 2 days. We again called him and got another reason why the rock had not been brought over. He told us at that time he was currently on his way over with the rock, so we waited for his arrival, which never came. This happened twice more over the next 4 days. We eventually had to pull the plug on believing he would come through for us and went with another excavator/hauler, which we explained to Max. It's a shame as we truly enjoy supporting local, young businesses, but we can't recommend a company who doesn't even try to finish a job. The experience would have gone much smoother had expectations of a work timeline been clearer. The almost non-existent and misleading communication demonstrated a clear lack of professionalism of an initially hard-working company.

Max Kept promising he would start work that day or the next but never did for 4 weeks of this after I put down half of the money for the estimate. It got late in the season to do what I needed done and got tired of the run around so contacted him for a refund. He said he would. Well, he stopped answering my calls and have yet to receive my refund. This has been 2 weeks so I'm getting an attorney to get my money back. Save yourself and don't trust this guy.
