FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing could seem complicated with photographers: there are many variables to consider to better understand how photographers charge. For my part, it's mainly based on the amount of time a project requires and the level of details/stress/attention needed. The best way to determine pricing for your project is to have a live conversation and discuss it together.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My preference would be to set a face to face meeting to discuss client's needs and give me an opportunity to present my work. Then, it comes down to tailoring my services to the client's needs through a quote/proposal. Once we agree upon that, a written contract is executed to ensure everything is documented. Because of distance and timing, it may not always be easy to meet...which is fine with me, I have been booked via text message and emails then met clients the day of their photo session. I can adapt and I'm equipped to handle everything from my dear smartphone ;-)
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I learned photography at a young age on my father's 35mm cameras. He was a photographer and introduced me to the basic settings and basic principles of lighting when I was 10. It wasn't until I became a father myself that I started practicing taking pictures daily on our first baby girl. I relied on a couple books but mainly on tutorials I found online to progress and master some techniques. The learning of the fundamentals of photography coupled with a lot of practice (A LOT) helped me achieve a level reasonable enough to quit my day job and become a full time photographer.
