FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We run an efficient operation and believe in providing a fair value which brings us many referrals. We typically charge $250 per hour with a two hour minimum which includes basic editing and a thumb drive of the shoot on location. Rather than fund a full studio, we rent space from an excellent facility with three individual studios with changing rooms, sound system, a large variety of props and backgrounds and professional lighting. Although we pay a fee for studio time, we don't charge extra for it. We also pay a 10% fee for referrals and if the customer is not satisfied for any reason, we work until they are satisfied including a completely new shoot if necessary. While I do provide prints, framing and albums on request, I don't retain the rights to the photos like many photographers, and let the customer save money by getting these on their own. I also tend to give the customer a large number of photos rather than cull them out on my own as they're a better judge of what they want, unless of course, there are basic edits like cropping or lighting changes needed.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Make sure we understand what they want to accomplish, what is important to them, show sample poses and discuss a variety of locations if they want an on location shoot. We carry a battery powered bluetooth speaker and have unlimited music subscriptions so we can play their favorite music and find this goes a long way toward making them comfortable. We provide their family and friends with a 12.9" iPad pro that wirelessly shows the images as we take them so they can be included in the process and make suggestions to be sure they'll be satisfied when the shoot is complete. We also take a few minutes to show the images to the subject so they are also satisfied.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
For starters I have a master's in engineering so the technical aspects of photography come naturally to me. Then I've attended over two dozen week long workshops, studied photography at a nearby college and completed several online courses. I've also photographed over two hundred professional models on shoots for major publications.
