How did you get started doing this type of work?
As a young musician growing up and had a fondness for electronics, sound systems and recording music.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
James Taylor at Emerson Cutler Majestic Theater fall 2016. He came with his full band. Mixing him was a joy. Really great volume and tone in the house, audience was listening acutely.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always hire a company that knows their profession and has your back. Ask for referrals and testimonials. Sound systems do not run on their own and a lack of experience can turn an otherwise great event into a disaster. The company you hire should provide solid, reliable equipment and know how to use it well.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION OF ALL: What are you planning to use the sound system for? This area may require a lot of detail and best handled with a phone call. If you want a PA system, anyone can quote you a speaker, a mic and cable for $100.00 and you can pick up and drop off. You may not be happy with the result so if that is not what you had in mind then more details are needed. DETAILS help you get the right service at the right price. Success is all about the details.
Here are some typical; questions I might ask myself before contacting a sound system or AV provider...
How many in attendance? In or Out door? Under a tent?
Is there ample electricity for the sound system. Larger systems , (for bands) usually require dedicated power and/or may require a remote power generator. (This area may require more details)
What is the schedule for the day/s? (Note that set up time for a band or other performance can be lengthy. e.g. 2-4 hrs, sound check, etc)
Have you talked with the band? The band has information that a sound provider needs to send a quote as well as be prepared for your event.
If using staging, what size is being provided? Example is 16' wide x 12' deep x 1' high.
Ample load in access. Is the event up stairs? Is there an elevator?
