Hired on Thumbtack

Hired on Thumbtack

We have now hired Cook Brothers Landscaping to help maintain our lawn and landscape. They just completed a spring yard cleanup: mowing and edging our lawn and weeding our garden beds. It looks fantastic! Very shortly after we posted our project on Thumbtack, we received a response from Cook Brothers. Brandon Cook came to our house to give us an estimate for the cleanup. He was able to come out to our house on a Saturday, which helped our schedule. He arrived on time, was very courteous, knowledgeable and will be easy to work with. He answered questions we had, and provided us the price quote in a timely manner. He was able to schedule our spring cleanup project the following Monday. When we came home from work that evening, it was great to see the nicely edged lawn and weed-free garden beds! We are looking forward to working with Cook Brothers for our bi-weekly landscaping service and other outdoor projects as needed! We would highly recommend them!

Hired on Thumbtack

Hired on Thumbtack

I am very disappointed in the way this company runs there business. I trusted in Thumbtack to have good responsible companies to choose from. I had several people I contacted to give me quotes on my property cleanup and chose to go with Cook bro. Landscape. Brandon came out three weeks ago and talked to me and my husband as we explained what we needed. Brandon was so excited to get started but told us it would be a few weeks because he was overbooked. I see in the one review he has he was able to get to Diane's job right away. For me I had to wait. In this time things have grown due to the weather and now I will have to either pay more for someone or do the job myself. I have a illness that keeps me from preforming any strenuous work and my husband works a full time job. Between the time Brandon came to give me a quote which was right away and the date he started April 7th. I tried to contact Brandon several times. He did not respond to my phone calls or emails. I started to get somewhat worried he did not want the job,So I mentioned in my email and phone calls that if he wasn't interested I could find someone else with no hard feelings. He never got back to me but did write a few days before he started that he would be here on the 7 th and was looking forward to working for us. I emailed him the day of and asked what time he would be coming and he told me between 12:00pm and 1:00pm he showed up at 1:45pm with two workers. He told me he was so excited to start the job and wondered why I would even wonder why he wasn't interested in working on my property because it was a beautiful piece of property. This property is unusual its in Juanita on three acer's back in the woods with a creek. Its all natural and has never been professionally landscaped. I was Looking forward to Brandon because he gave me the impression he new what he was doing and told me he could fulfill our expectations. I noticed they where not at all familiar with brush work the minute they got started. It seemed that they were tired before they got started. If I wasn't standing there his workers seemed to just stand around. They whacked down bushes that are now sticks standing two to three feet tall that I have to now prune down. They where to rake up the debris that they cut they only raked the surface and dumped the debris that they did rake up into a pond. I also explained to Brandon to be very careful he didn't kill a climbing rose my grandpa planted years ago,It is now dead hanging from a tree. I also told Brandon that I needed help with a small tree that had fallen in the neighboring yard before he showed up he said he would bring his chainsaw but when he got here he had forgotten it but would return the next day to finish the job and help with the small tree. Then my husband asked when he could return to finish the job the next time,Brandon said he try's not to worry about his schedule and could not provide an answer. I sat all day long the next day waiting for Brandon to come,He never called or showed up. I find this very rude not too call or let your customer know that you are not showing up for work. I find this company disrespectful and with no concern for there customers. This company is a lawn mowing service not a landscape company. His workers are not familiar with plants and left behind roots of weeds in the small garden I had them weed. I will go with my instincts next time I thought I did my homework when hiring this company it looked legit from the logo and Brandon seemed to come across as if he new what he was doing. I have never been treated so badly by a company before. I have been up all night upset with this whole thing. I now have to find another landscape service. This wouldn't have been a problem but Brandon made me wait three weeks and now everything has started to grow and now looks like a bigger job than it was when Brandon first came to give me a quote. I would think twice if I where you in hiring this company. They are young guys looking for an easy job and don't know what they are doing. Brandon's time is more important than yours he has no respect for his customers and just leave you hanging. I didn't even want to leave them a star but was unable to leave feedback without marking one. I hate having to write a bad review on any company and have never had to but I value my time and I don't like to be taken advantage by anyone. A note to Brandon you need to treat your customers like they are number one I find you very rude on how you strung me along and left me hanging in this position. Your customers come first. I do not understand the young generation anymore lazy and looking for a quick buck. Think twice before you hire this company!!!
Cook Brothers Landscaping's reply
With all customers I am clear on my per man hour charge, not only verbally, but also in my written estimates. My two employees and I spent 3 hours on site for a total of 9 work hours, thereby giving an hour of free work away! If only! After we had finished working for this client and came time to collect they responded they didn't have the money with them and would send it to me. Lo and behold the only payment I ever received was a negative review for good honest work. We always try to do what's best for the client and their property, and we will continue to do so!
