When I'm looking for a mental health professional, there are certain qualities I need present to trust this person to guide me through the ups and downs of life toward stability, self-confidence, and growth. Anne Chow possesses all these qualities and more. Though there are too many qualities to elaborate on individually, the two most important to me are warmth and unique insight. Warmth is crucial because I won't truly open up to someone who seems cold and purely clinical in how they analyze me. I reveal my most personal experiences to her because, from all our interactions, she has shown empathy as she celebrates my successes and mourns my losses right along with me. Anne Chow's insight is what separates her from the pack. Sometimes her feedback is something I've known subconsciously, but haven't really acknowledged it consciously. Other times, she finds patterns and puts events together in ways I never saw coming. When I see things as just random unrelated life events, she will find similarities to events in my past and help me find the lesson embedded in their repetition. Anne is wonderful! She is a great listener and her upbeat personality and guidance always make me feel better when I am being hard on myself. She helps put things in perspective when I can't see it myself and is patient in the process when I say, no, no, that's not how it is. Then later I realize she was spot on! Just took me some time to get there myself.

My services are $60 per hour.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The process starts with a phone call. I offer a 20 minute free consultation to see if my services are a good fit for your needs. If we mutually decide that we would like to continue to do work together, we will set up an appointment time to meet face to face.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I did social/life skills training while working as a certified teacher with elementary and high school students throughout Virginia. I am still certified to teach in Virginia, K-12 grade. I am currently in graduate school to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
