FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My favorite way to do a job is "Time & Materials". It takes away a lot of the work and stress involved with the bidding process and usually leaves everyone feeling like they got a fair deal. This doesn't always work, for all jobs, and all customers, but it's nice when it does.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My generation (I'm 55 years old now) grew up with shop classes, and Boy Scout projects, and chores. Beyond that I'm not afraid to read the instructions that come with materials. I took mechanical drawing and architectural drafting in school, too. Moreover, though, it was apprenticeships and experience that taught me the most. I've been blessed to have worked with some really great teachers.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I guess I was born into it... my Grandfathers and my father were handy, preferring to do most projects themselves. One of my Grandfathers often said "some man made this, and we're men, so we can fix it..." it was that can do spirit that was his biggest and best gift to me.
