Shannon and I began our conversation just a few weeks ago to schedule a photography session. I was looking for a photographer to take a few couples photos followed by a single-person portrait session. When I visited Shannon’s portfolio and Instagram account, I fell madly in love with her work! From the very first words the two of us exchanged, I knew Shannon is a fun person, with whom I could speak with ease. I felt I was talking with a friend I have known all along. She was punctual and witty with her responses. And I personally believe for anyone to have a good photography session, they need to gel with the photographer in order to feel comfortable in front of the camera (especially if looking to take any candid photos).
Once we began chatting, Shannon and I quickly figured out logistics, location, and payment details. My goal was to take a few couple’s photos and the rest of the time would be used for a portrait session (for one person only). There were a few other photographers I was in contact with (when I started inquiring), and I recall one fellow who told me I needed to schedule two separate sessions and make two separate payments - this would be regardless of the session duration. Shannon was so understanding of me wanting to get both tasks done at once. Shannon's pricing was very reasonable.
The days before our session, Shannon and I touched base to come up with a back-up plan in case our original plan would not work out (due to the rain). The morning of, Shannon let me know when she was leaving; she traveled 1.5 hours to a location of my choice, and I was very appreciative. And though my commute to the location was slightly shorter, I was running late by a few minutes, and Shannon was once again understanding.
Immediately after meeting up, we clicked with Shannon. She has the warmest personality I have seen in a photographer. And I have had multiple professional photo sessions in the last couple of years. I was taken by Shannon’s grace, her creativity, and her eye for neat poses - Shannon is a lovely human with so much love and creativity to offer. Neat fact: Shannon recently moved to VA from CA, and I think us folks in the DMV just gained a fabulous human and an unbelievably talented photographer. Woo!
One of the things that stood out to me during our session was how gently Shannon would cue directions to us. If I could use a couple of words to describe Shannon behind the camera, it would be graceful and gentle. I requested for a same day delivery of a few of the photos (to be able to use a Shutterfly promo of all things), and Shannon delivered four photos. Originally, Shannon had told us we would receive edited files in four days (of which three would have been business days), but by the next day, Shannon delivered all the photos (a total of 70 photos). Woo, for the very quick turnaround!
We had such a beautiful experience with Shannon. And as we walked away from our photo session, we mutually came to a consensus that for all our future photography needs, we would be reaching out to Shannon first and foremost. Our sentiments were further validated once we received the our photos. The picture quality is exceptional, each photo is as beautiful and crisp as the last. Thank you, Shannon, for going above and beyond to deliver those beautiful pictures to us.
