FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Available upon request
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Initially, I like to sit down with a prospective client for a "meet and greet" goal-setting session. Each person will be given 'take-home homework' to help me gain insight to their goals, so I email the fitness questionnaire, 3-day meal plan, and goal setting sheets for them to fill out prior to our appointment. We discuss their goals together, and then I take each client through something called a functional movement screen. This helps me assess any postural or kinetic deficiencies so I can prevent injuries from occurring & the client can have the best experience possible. From there, each client is taught a dynamic warm-up, and then they receive a customized intro workout. If the client and I enjoy the time together and there's good rapport, we discuss how to move onto the next step (weekly appointments).
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my BA from Indiana University in 2008. I studied Biology and Spanish, with minors in Chemistry, Sociology, and Criminal Justice. I started training my friends' moms in 2006; I had been competing in triathlons and they needed help with their program design. I first received my ACSM-CPT cert in 2006, and then I was certified with NASM as a certified personal trainer before I obtained my Corrective Exercise Specialist cert in 2009. I've also held certifications with USA Weightlifting, and I was certified as a Functional Movement Screen exercise specialist. I have also been certified with USA Swimming as a swim coach/swim instructor. Over the last 12 years, I've developed a variety of programs for Gold's Gym, Lifetime Fitness, and LA Fitness: triathlon/endurance/learn-to-swim programs (Gold's Gym); Lifetime Fitness (tripled the Masters Swim Team in under 8 weeks & laid the groundwork for USA Swimming certification), functional fitness, 90-day weightloss programs, corrective exercise, individual & group TRX programs (LA Fitness). In addition, for the last 2.5 years I was asked to work as a consultant for the corporate office of Fitness International. I helped develop new marketing strategies, hiring practices, personal training assessments, re-designed the PT Journal given to each client, structured a 90-day weight-loss program, and designed a functional training area 500 clubs to incorporate more body-weight and CrossFit-style training, as well as individual + group TRX programs.
