- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I determine any health risks that may be of concern for the customer. I then find out what goals the client has: weight loss, definition, athletic enhancement, etc. and cater a program based on that. I use a combination of functional training combined with traditional strength training when applicable. I also love to use HIIT training for my weight loss clients.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters Degree in Sports Medicine / Athletic Training and I have been a NATA Certified Athletic Trainer for almost 16 years. I am also a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and have been for almost 15 years. I am the former director of an upscale Athletic Enhancement / Fitness facility in WV where I planned and implemented personal and group training for adults, athletes, and kids for over 8 years. I have trained HS age athletes for football combines to help them become faster, stronger, and more explosive. I also was the fitness and nutritional consultant for Cassidy Shell, NPC national qualifying bikini competitor.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began as soon as I graduated with my Masters in 2002. Fitness has become not only a career but a lifestyle for me. I try to introduce that concept to my clients when I can.
