Introduction: I've been tutoring for nearly two years on the Ole Miss campus while I completed my degree in Mechanical Engineering. I focused primarily on College Algebra, Calculus 1, and Calculus 2. I've taken both calculus courses in college and high school where I received AP accreditation. I believed that for an engineering major more experience in a college atmosphere would benefit me. My engineering degree has given me not only the confidence to perform mathematical operations but confidence to cite useful explanations and applications that contextualize concepts while I teach.
I enjoy building up from basic math concepts. By approaching problems from a graphical perspective I believe students gain a stronger comprehension of what formulas mean and what solutions show once the work is done. This takes a longer amount of time but helps students answer the often elusive questions of 'how' and 'why' solutions are solutions. Showing students how to go from guessing their way through problems to confidently and independently completing problems is my ultimate goal.
