FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In our first conversation, we will spend time getting to know you. From there we will do what we can together to help you.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A. in Religion, Master of Divinity, am completing a second M.A. in Religion in August. I have over 27 years working with K-12 students in afterschool, day and resident camp, sports teams, and leagues, Bible clubs, and other programs. I have served as a YMCA director, Christian School Head of School, teacher and substitute teacher, and am leading our local non-profit tutoring program in its 18th years of service. I have over 1200 hours of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and 16 years of experience as a hospital and hospice chaplain, working with people from pregnancy through death, all ages, faiths, and demographics. I have pastored in local churches for 25 years, currently serving a diverse welcoming Nazarene church in Gastonia, NC. Beyond that, I have worked in business for over 13 years with an electronics company, banks, a print shop, various retail businesses and a survey company. I have experience working with people and in all areas of human relations, from resumes to interviews, hiring, training, mentoring, coaching, evaluating and even dismissals. I read widely and also have a number of friends as resources in areas where I am not an expert. Most of all, I love helping people succeed. That requires care, relationships, coaching, teaching, humor, interaction and "walking together" to help them find their best life. I have a long list of folks who say that my life with them made their life better.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had a warm, wonderful family and grew into a strong faith. God called me to be a pastor as a teenager, and a girl I later married started me working with children. I spent 8 1/2 years with the YMCA, 2 years leading a Christian School, 15 years as a chaplain and led our state teen camp for 15 years. Each job was wonderful for the season it was, and all have contributed to who I am as a minister, counselor, and speaker now.
