What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in Advertising from Brigham Young University. I have owned my own business since 2002, and have been taking photos for several years. I am also a graphic designer, and use my photography and design skills to ensure photos are true to color, sharp, bright, and gorgeous.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with real estate agents, as well as all types of business and commercial photography, including for builders/remodeling/landscape, vacation rentals, retail, offices, etc.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I just completed a series of gorgeous back yards for a landscape designer. The work included shots of the overall look of the yard, lifestyle-type shots, twilights, and details. I really enjoyed capturing the feel and unique aspects of each yard, and give the landscaper shots that show off the quality of his designs.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Before hiring a photographer, consider the purpose for which you will be using the images. In many cases, both for real estate and commercial, you don't just want to show the physical properties, but you also want to capture the lifestyle, perhaps share an emotion, or help your customers visualize how your property or service can be customized for them.
Specifically for real estate, please keep in mind the timing as far as having the home prepared for the shoot. The online images are usually the "first showing" of the property. You want to entice buyers to come to the property through the images, and in order to do that, you need to prepare the home properly - clean, minimize personal items, clean/hide junk, clean up yard/exterior, remove debris, and complete any repairs, etc. So you want to schedule your shoot when the home looks it's best.
