FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The standard pricing system for my transcription service is a fair $1 per audio/video minute, so if you have a 30 minute audio or video file, the cost for transcribing that file will be $30. Editing pricing is as follows: Basic copyediting - 5 to 10 manuscript pages at $25, Heavy copyediting - 2 to 5 manuscript pages at $35, Website copyediting - $35/hr. Proofreading service pricing is a competitive $25 per 9-13 manuscript pages. Please note that a manuscript page is 250 words per page.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When initially contacted, I ask what type of work needs to be transcribed, edited, or proofread; what are the parameters for the project; and what is the time frame for completion. I keep close communication during the process to ensure the final product is satisfactory to the customer. After submitting the initial project, I give my customers a chance to evaluate my service.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was educated at Career Step as a medical transcriptionist and editor and obtained an honors certification. I was also educated at Katharine Gibb's School and obtained an Executive Secretary certification with emphasis on speed typing with accuracy, English grammar, editing, proofreading, business writing, and dictation (transcription).
