FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Dr. Broughton's tuition is comparable to that of qualified teachers in the area. Parents of prospective students should be aware that many hours are involved in a successful piano and voice studio outside of lesson times. Music lessons are an investment which will last a lifetime. Because Dr. Broughton is a member of local, state, and national music teacher associations, her students are afforded the opportunity to participate in festivals and competitions on various levels, with the possibility of earning valuable scholarships. All tuition and fees are discussed when Dr. Broughton contacts the prospective student or his/her parent by telephone.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I am contacted by Thumbtack with an inquiry by a new adult student or parent of a younger student, I will schedule a mutually convenient time to return the phone call and have an initial free telephone consultation. Be sure to include times you are available for lessons and price range you are comfortable with. I assure you, my tuition is standard for everyone, but for obvious reasons I don't publish it on the internet. At the time of our telephone consultation, I will answer all questions about tuition, studio policy, etc. If the parent and I feel we will be a good musical "fit," I will arrange an in-person interview with the adult or parent and child in my studio. Typically, I will refer the caller to my website, pianoandvoiceteacher.com, for information prior to our telephone call.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 15+ years of experience owning my own private studio and have enjoyed teaching piano to students of all ages. Voice (singing) students are accepted from teenage to adult. I have Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees. I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music. I will be happy to provide local references.
