FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My services are not covered by insurance. My fees are intentionally as low as I can make them and still cover my costs. I charge $30 for a 50 minute hour. This is about the same amount insurance carriers would charge you as a copayment for covered services. I hope my clients feel this fee is reasonable for the value they receive from our time together. To reduce broken appointments, the full session fee is due if an existing appointment is changed or canceled with less than 24 hours advance notice. If a client believes this fee should be waived because of their unique circumstances, I invite them to discuss it with me.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
During my first session with a new client, I will perform an assessment of their history, the issue they would like to work on, and their goals for counseling. I understand picking a counselor based on nothing more than a name and a photo can be daunting. I'm happy to do a brief telephone interview to help you get a feeling for me and my practice. Often that will be enough to help you make your decision. Because I'm usually in session, my phone will automatically go to voicemail, but if you leave your name and number I will always return your call within 24 hours.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After working in healthcare for 20 years, I began my ministry as a Biblical Counselor in Westlake Village, California at Calvary Community Church. I served as the Director of their lay counseling care team and a minister on call. Since 2004 I have completed more than 250 hours of counseling educational training. I counseled exclusively in a church environment until relocating to North Carolina in 2013. After assisting The Summit Church in Kernersville with the formation and training of their lay counseling team, I established a private counseling practice in January of 2017. As a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, I am bound by their professional code of conduct. I am also an ordained minister in good standing of the National Association of Christian Ministers.
