Introduction: Dogs are my life! I moved to Houston after spending years instructing students in sled dog sports. My family owns a sled dog kennel, home to 25+ Siberian Huskies, and we do ecotourism in Eastern Québec. Now that I live in Houston, I want to help people have more balanced relationships with their dogs, especially new rescued dogs. I hope to see more dogs pardoned from euthanasia at city pounds as a result more skilled dog owners. My favorite part of my job is seeing the owner's faces when I leave. The information and my methods are simple and showing it to my clients seems to have a profound effect on the way they lead their lives with dogs. 70% of my clients have a dog behavior issues related to their dog being bored out of his or her mind. We come up with solutions that work for the client.

As soon as I met Kirk it was obvious that he truly has a special understanding of dog behavior. My dog is normally very nervous, anxious and reactive with strangers, but Kirk was calm and confident in his first interactions with my dog, Sophie and was able to gain control of the situation instantaneously. Over the course of the next 90 minutes, Kirk was very personable and patient with both Sophie and me. His experience and knowledge of dog behavior is apparent and he does a great job of addressing problem situations by empowering you with the knowledge, the tools and most importantly, the confidence to do it on your own. It has only been a few days from our initial session but I am very pleased with the results thus far. I am much more confident in my ability to manage Sophie’s less than ideal behaviors (barking at the door, reacting on leash at other dogs, etc.) This in turn has had a noticeably positive effect on her behavior and energy. I look forward to continue working with Kirk and continuing our progress. I absolutely recommend Kirk if you’re looking for insight into dog behavior and are seeking assistance with your own pup.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask my clients to complete my Dog Behavior Questionnaire on my website so I can better assess what your relationship is like with your dog. I come to the clients and we work on the biggest issues. I have some clients I see weekly, twice and just once.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I work at a veterinarian's clinic a few days a week as a kennel technical and dog behavior training consultant. I have been the Kennel Manager at Earth Studies since 2001. I have instructed students in Sled Dog Sports and Management since I was 2007. I have a Bachelors in Environmental Studies from Carleton University and an Associate's Degree in Small Business Management from Algonquin College, both in Ottawa, Ontario.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I am have Dog Sled Management Instructor for a long time and I grew up with my family's kennel of Siberian Huskies in the ecotourism industry in Eastern Canada.
