As a lifelong seeker of truth, I have experienced several different counseling relationships. Finding Cheryl has been a true blessing for both my wife and me. She has been a life-saving presence in our lives. She has created an incredibly safe space for us to begin a journey to understanding, healing and a stronger bond of love. I highly recommend working with her. It will change your life.

    About this pro

I took a leap of faith and went into private practice out of grad school. Fortunately the patients I saw in my internship wanted to continue seeing me and then they told family and friends and I was blessed to have a thriving practice. I think my passion to give others hope and my ability to see them through this journey is why I receive so many referrals; which I’m very thankful for. Also, this is not “big business” but a family business that cares for others like we care for one another. Bring a therapist is a very unique profession. I see humanity at its worst and also at its best. Every individual or couple coming to therapy has a story to tell. That is their story, they earned it and I’m intrigued to hear it. I enjoy the intricacies of other people’s lives and how i can help them own their story and have a satisfying and fulfilling life. In 2013 I decided that choosing to care for and love people was my professional goal. When a patient is with me they feel heard, understood and cared for.

      Q & A

      • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Therapy is an investment in your emotional health and well being. I am considered an out of network provider. This means you pay for services and submit the billable receipt or super bill to your insurance company. What ever your benefits are with your insurance is what applies. I do offer a sliding scale fee based on annual household income. This fee ranges from $75-$175 per session while most people fall into the $75-$100 per session rate after the initial intake session.
      • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master’s in Counseling and a specialty in Marriage, Couple and Family therapy. I am also a Certified Play Therapist. I continue to improve my skills through advanced trainings several times a year and reading multiple clinical books monthly. I also have had the honor of being asked by my previous professors to teach graduate students at MidAmerica Nazarene University in their final coursework before graduating and becoming therapist themselves.
      • How did you get started doing this type of work?
I did not start out to be a therapist! After facing a lot of my own life challenges ( death of my father, death of my spouse 7 months after marriage, past abuse etc). I decided to use what I had learned from my own suffering and return to school to be able to use my personal challenges and suffering to help others. While I have the degrees and they are very important to me I continue to find life experiences and continuous learning invaluable to me.
