- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The price shown on your quote is based off of the upper quantity of people you indicated will be attending your event and the price per person that I've determined it will cost to feed your group. My price per person is based on previous experiences and the courses you indicated in your service request. The final cost of catering for your event will depend on the final quantity of attendees and your final menu selections.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new customer, I first take an opportunity to discover how you want your event to FEEL. Do you want your guests to feel laid back, upscale, festive, warm, etc.? This helps me begin to visualize what types of foods would evoke those types of feelings. Then, I'll create a set of menu options within your price range for you to choose from. If you've already got an idea of what you'd like to serve, we can run in that direction OR I can create a menu based on your input. Depending on the level of service you requested, along with creating menu options, I would gather information on how you want your gourmet buffet assembled or other details you need to pull together to finalize your party planning. Once the menu, final headcount, and extraneous details are set, you can be assured that I'll deliver the most delicious food to you on your event date!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am not a professionally trained chef... However, I am a licensed Professional Engineer. You may be wondering how these two disciplines relate? Well, you'll be surprised to find that they do! As an engineer, I've learned how to creatively solve problems. And even though planning an event isn't necessarily considered a 'problem', it does require thought, organization, experience, and creativity. I've found that my engineering background has helped me to optimize buffet layouts, tackle difficult recipes, and feed gobs of people without breaking a sweat.
