FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I you found and hired me through Thumbtack it means I had an open date and the time and interest to fill it. When I place my bid on a Thumbtack job it is for a "capture fee". I shoot anywhere from a few hundred to a couple thousand pictures, no clock watching. I shoot from when it is interesting to when it isn't. You only want so many pictures of your uncle dancing with a tie on his head, trust me. :) I take the images and prune them down to around 250. This is kind of a magic number because it gives us enough images to make any kind of album you could ever want, without losing any great stuff in the mix. The 250 are processed with "fairy dust and magic" to a printable output and delivered via digital media, a download folder, flash drive or dvd at your discretion. Any super low exceptions to this basic pricing package are generally extended because you have an way "off peak" wedding, or you're getting married on choppers in the desert, or elephants, or you happen to be extra terrestrials, and I just think it's cool, so I do it for peanuts.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Because all of my clients are unique I don't really have a "typical process". I do love to sit down with a prospective client and show them a little bit of how I work so they can get a chance to see my process. It helps to get to know each other a little bit before the big day, even if just a phone chat so I get an idea of what my clients are dreaming of.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended SAIC (The School of the Art Institute of Chicago) and Northwestern University and studied painting and fine art at both. As a teenager I traveled the world modelling and developed a passion for photographing the human form. I then worked for years in the music industry shooting rock bands for posters and merchandise. Friends were always asking me to shoot their weddings and I discovered I have a real passion for it. The wedding day is so exciting, days, weeks, months of planning all culminating in a wonderful, sometimes surprise filled celebration of love. The new baby is full of promise and newness created out of love. The family shares a bond of love. All of the different things I shoot regularly inspire me to grow and evolve both personally and professionally. I love to have the honour of helping you to save and preserve these memories for yourselves and future generations.
