Introduction: Grant Sayler is quickly emerging as one of the most exciting and unique guitarists in the Northwest. Grant, a Portland Oregon native, spent his childhood playing the violin. After seven years of classical study, Grant became infatuated with the sounds of rock and roll and his musical interests shifted to the guitar. Since then, Grant has acquired a bachelors degree in music from Portland State University and has studied with Alan Jones, Scott Pemberton, Ambrose Akinmusire, George Colligan, Ben Monder, Nir Felder, John Stowell, Tom Guarna, and many others. Influenced by the teaching styles and philosophies of his previous instructors, Grant teaches each student based on their individual desires and abilities and has taught privately, at The Northwest Academy, Alan Jones Academy of Music, and The School of Rock. Currently, Grant is writing and collaborating with many writers, producers, and artists in Los Angeles. He has toured nationally as a guitarist and bassist with Gavin Castleton and The Dear Hunter, as well as with Coco Columbia. Grant has played and recorded with such artists as Esperanza Spalding, Gavin Castleton, Coco Columbia, George Colligan, and many others. I find teaching to be really fulfilling; I get joy from sharing ideas and helping students learn, and the teaching process is constantly furthering my knowledge and perspective on music. It's a win win!

Grant Sayler taught me a variety of skills regarding rhythm, technique and composition. He was extremely chill, and was overall a great friend and mentor for my band and I. He is talented as a musician and a teacher, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a thorough and holistic learning experience.

Grant is able to see your weakest sides and immediately come up with exercises to improve them. I learned so much from him for just about 6 months.
