Maira Solis

Introduction: My name is Maira Solis and I grew up in Boyle Heights. I was first introduced to music in Stevenson Middle School during the summer before seventh grade. I learned how to play the violin and participated in the Mariachi Ensemble there. I was able to take lessons in the Los Angeles Music and Art School through Stevenson and with the support of LAMUS. I continued playing mariachi throughout middle school and continued on to high school. During this time, I participated in the choir and chamber orchestra in LAMUS. After high school, I attended Occidental College where I continued my musical studies. I was involved in the chamber ensemble, choir, and orchestra. From high school and onward, I worked as a performing violinist, playing with various mariachi ensembles and orchestras. I also began teaching as a private violin instructor and also as an instructor for Beulah Payne Elementary School. I am currently teaching music for the Santa Ana Unified School District this year. I am a performing violinist with Latin-Grammy nominated Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles, who is also recognized as the first female mariachi ensemble in the nation. We have played for various concerts across the country. Just recently, we performed in Kansas City, Missouri for the National Council of La Raza's annual conference. We have also performed with Mexican singer Aida Cuevas in the Roosevelt Theatre in Chicago, IL. I have a passion for helping students advance in their violin studies and look forward to helping you reach your goals! :) I enjoy helping my clients surpassing their musical goals and gaining confidence while gaining value skills.
