Introduction: I am an ALL-VINYL DJ specializing in rare funk, soul, disco, rock, afrobeat, and old-school hip-hop. I don't stand behind a computer and pick through a list of songs. I dig through my crates of records and drop the needle in the groove to get the party started. I take it back to where it all started. A time when people danced until the sun came up. Vinyl is making a come-back and so is vinyl turntablism. It's a skill requiring training unlike digital DJs these days. I'm one of few DJs in the area that has this skill-set and one of fewer available for booking.
I'm radio trained and have performed all kinds of venues such as clubs, breweries, houses, and weddings. I pay attention to the vibes on the dance floor and make sure to keep people engaged, whether that requires playing slower songs, or picking up the energy. The most common concern about only playing records is that I won't be able to play requests. But I am glad to work with my customers and can easily set up my computer to also allow requests throughout the performance.
I'm a music addict. I spend my time making playlists, digging through crates at record stores around the country, and doing my weekly radio show in the WUVT FM studio. I have over 1,000 records in my collection and it's growing every week. The greatest part of what I do is getting to share what I've found with YOU. My favorite part of DJing is creating a seamless mix that fluctuates between genres and rhythms. I've made classic rock lovers dance to hip-hop and vice versa. I see my DJ set as a performance with the goal of getting people of any age up and dancing.
