I would use him for all my future projects. Great experience working with him.Sep 29, 2018VerifiedKLM Builders's reply
You and Carolyn are awesome! It's great working for folks who know exactly what they want!
Hired KLM to build a vaulted screen porch on existing deck. The artistry in design, quality of detailed craftsmanship, and pleasant disposition of Tim and crew made the 6-week project worth every penny. If you need quick cookie cutter work, hire someone else; if you need personalized time-honored construction that thinks through every detail call KLM.Jun 15, 2018Verified
The quality & workmanship were excellent! The 2 porches that were built were exactly how I had pictured them! Great job! Thanks Tim, Kyle and Malcolme!Sep 23, 2017VerifiedKLM Builders's reply
Thank you! We couldn't have asked for nicer people to work for!
in retrospect, i have to amend my original review of this company. the finished project and workmanship of the workers left much to be desired. hardcloth that had been put up less than six months ago is badly rusting, clearly showing that the contractor used inferior-grade products, and he will do nothing. sloppy work, cigarette butts left on property, tarps not put down on my new floors as i had requested, globs and specks of drywall mud left on my floor, drywall tape not completely attached where it should've been. he left the job for a week to do another job, never advising me beforehand. i would never recommend KLM Builders to anyone, or ever hire them again.May 22, 2018VerifiedKLM Builders's reply
It's worth noting that none of these accusations appeared prior to final payment for this job. The hardware cloth in question has a 5-star rating on Amazon. I suspect any rusting was precipitated by cat urine and your attempt to clean the product with a caustic cleaner. I've never seen hardware cloth rust in less than 6 months. I have contacted the company and inquired about their warranty.

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Meet with the customer at a mutually convenient time to discuss the project. I listen closely and may make suggestions and am always ready to answer questions. I usually ask that I be given time to work up an accurate quote. "Ball Park" figures are not fair to the customer or the contractor. Generally, I write the estimate and present it to the customer so everything is in writing. Sometimes details are lost in a verbal exchange.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I honed my trade by working with some great contractors years ago and I am always looking for ways to improve the final product. I stay informed on better ways of assembly and fastening products.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I used to build treehouses and elaborate dams when I was a kid. I've always like working with tools so some of my first jobs were in construction. As a young man in my 20s I was drawn back to construction type work.
