Jerry at Funk Republic was without a doubt the best DJs I have ever had the pleasure of working with for a big event. Jerry's meticulous attention to details, professional pre-event planning and overall care and concern for our wishes for the evening helped make this one of the best gatherings I have ever had the privilege of hosting. This was a second wedding for both of us and we wanted to ensure all our guests enjoyed the music, from the youngest to the oldest. Jerry didn’t just meet this expectation he exceeded it. We tried to walk around to tables to greet our guests in smaller groups and we had a difficult time because they were on the dance floor the entire night. In fact, the floor was packed from the first dance to the last. We have had numerous calls from guests who said “your DJ was awesome!” On a scale from 1-10, Jerry 11+.

We hired this DJ last minute because we could not decide between him and the flood of others out there. But we are so happy that we did! He did not flake like DJs have a bad rep for doing. His song library is expansive. I can't think of one song that we requested and he didn't have. You can tell he has been doing this a long time because he totally knew how to read the crowd and keep everyone dancing at our party. Highly recommended!!

I've watched Jerry do his thing at a number of events and hired him myself. He really is very good at what he does. He get's everyone involved and out on the dance floor and all have a great time. I highly recommend Jerry for your event.

Pros: Showed up on time, helped us choose music, kept the party going really well. Cons: Made comments on mic about teaching white boys to dance (about our guests with darker skin), asked about my (the bride's) ethnicity and kept asking questions and waited to speak with me about it in between guests during the receiving line, made other comments under his breath to my family, promised to bring white LED's for the ceremony background (!) but instead brought blue, green, and red (at which point it was too late to rent replacements). Changed up the plans for the midnight toast without telling anyone. Overall, the wedding was great, but the DJ was the one thing people commented about as weird.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically we take a 50% deposit to reserve your date. Once that is received, then your date is locked in. We have you fill out our online "Event Information Form" so we can gather all the detailed information about your event, i.e. type of music you want, announcements, venue address, start time, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Té is our Senior DJ and MC.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We have Emceed and provided DJ services for corporate parties, wedding receptions, high-school dance, and private parties.
