- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
If you do live in the Madison area: I am always willing to work with clients on price, I like to say I'm pay-what-you-can, but I do have some suggested prices for various services: Portraits: $150, Events: $250, Engagement: $500, Wedding: $1,000. If you don't live in the Madison area: Pay what you can PLUS compensation for the trip to wherever you are and for lodging if you need me to stick around for more than one day. Please keep in mind that these suggested prices are only recommendations, and if these prices are prohibitive, I am still happy to work with you!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to sit down with a new customer over coffee and chat about the look and feel of their project and locations they'd like to try out, but if that's not possible, I make sure to get that information over email. I also love visual references, so customers are welcome to send me links to blogs they love, share Pinterest boards with me, or bring photos to their shoot so that I can get an idea of what style they like when it comes to their pictures.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been taking pictures since I was very, very young, but I got my start professionally when I was in Norway for my cousin's wedding and her photographer bailed on her last minute. I stepped in, and even though her first language is Norwegian and mine is English, we found amazing locations, planned a great shoot, and their pictures turned out beautifully! I fell totally in love with professional photography and have been doing it ever since.
