Introduction: I can think of nothing that brings me more joy in this world than having a part in helping a person feel amazing... especially about themselves. The reaction I witness in a person when I show them their completed images, is a feeling I could live off of for a lifetime. Black Mill Photography specializes in creative portrait photography, boudoir, newborn, engagement, children and families, model, actor and business head shots, and events... capturing these images in studio, on location, or in nature. My vision is to create beautiful images with an ethereal and mysterious feel, while capturing the beauty of each unique individual's divine human spirit. My hope and greatest wish is that when my client views their images for the first time, they will witness the beauty and magic inside themselves that I have seen all along. What an incredible honor and gift it is to be able follow such a passion in this life. I would say that Photography fell into my life by happy accident or destiny.. whatever you believe. As a young child I always wanted to be an artist. I had an aptitude for drawing and painting and my mother placed me in several artistic courses to try and nurture my skills. As I got older, I stepped away little by little from my passion and fell into the routine of life that I thought I was suppose to have. I spent many years in the restaurant industry, got married, had children, never imagining for a moment that the arts would enter into my life again. I played around with a camera from time to time, getting creative with taking photos that looked interesting to me, but never really allowing myself to be swept away with the possibilities of becoming an artist again. It wasn't until I took a job as a receptionist for a local photographer that I discovered how amazing this craft was, and how naturally I took to it. I purchased my first camera from a friend who's work greatly inspires me, and I jumped into the deep end with both feet. My inspirations and artistic talents immediately flourished and within a year I was opening my own business. I felt as if I walked right into what I was created to do. It just fit me... my personality, my strengths, my passions. It had me constantly thinking, changing, growing, and creating. Anytime I pick up my camera I have a new experience, discover a new possibility, and feel immediately challenged to think outside of the box. I will never know all that there is to know about photography... and to me there isn't anything better than that. Imagine the possibilities! I am certain that this ability I have is a gift that has been given to me at the perfect moment in my life, and to share it with the world is a dream that I intend to make reality.
