FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Establishing good communication is always crucial when working with a new customer. I like to talk with a new customer by phone and then in person in order to assess their needs and determine how I can best help. I also like to check in periodically as the project moves along to update my customer and add changes if any are needed. When working with children and young adults, parental involvement in addition to communication is important. I meet with customers weekly at a minimum to report progress and make recommendation for helping the student move forward in their learning and experience success.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a AS in Human Services and a BA in Psychology. I am currently certified in CPR and First Aid.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had a great English Teacher in high school who inspired me to love reading and expressing myself in writing. As I furthered my own education, I fostered that love of writing and began to help others express themselves effectively as well. When I started my career in the mental health field, I did not leave my love of reading and writing behind. I have used those skills throughout my career by helping with agency policy and procedure writing, grant writing and tutoring students in my care.
